Stories and highlights
There's always something to celebrate at our school! From exciting events to proud moments and everyday wins, here are some of our highlights from 2026 so far.
A snapshot into 2026 at Dapto Public School
First day of Kindergarten
We started the year off by welcoming a brand new group of excited Kindergarten students. They had a wonderful first day and made lots of new friends!
ANZAC Day
On ANZAC Day many of our students proudly represented DPS at our local Anzac Day Dawn Service.
As the sun rose, they stood in quiet reflection, honouring the courage, sacrifice, and spirit of those who have served our country. Their respectful participation was a powerful reminder of the importance of remembrance and community.
Debating
Congratulations to our Year 5 and Year 6 debating teams who competed in the DLC Debating Gala Day at Dapto High School!
The teams put their skills into practise, participating in two debates each.
Our Year 5 team were named the winners of the competition after presenting arguments against the topic, 'Canteens should be run by students'.
Well done to all of our debaters on this fantastic achievement!
Cross Country
In May 53 students represented DPS at the District Cross Country Carnival!
A big Congratulations to all of our students who competed on the day and an extra shoutout to Oliver T, Ben B, Oliver A, Allira L, Talan B, Ella W, Ava F, Alivia C, Airlie G, Tully M, Jayde D, Kyla T and Neave L who will all go on to compete at the Regional Cross Country Carnival.
Well done Dapto!
Easter Hat Parade
HAPPY EASTER!! Our Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2 students had such a wonderful morning!
They got to meet the Easter Bunny and have their photo taken!
Interschool Chess Challenge
In April 14 of our senior chess club members represented Dapto Public at the Interschool Chess Competition at Edmund Rice College.
All students walked away with wins, with all members showing excellent skill and attitude throughout the day.
Despite the team narrowly missing out on a Top 3 finish, they have represented our school to the best of their ability. Well done to all involved!
PSSA Netball Knockout game
A huge congratulations to our school netball team!
They were successful in their game this morning, winning 33-18 against Unanderra Public School.
The girls are now through to the 4th round of the South Coast Knockout Competition.
Reconciliation Walk
In May, our Indigenous students from Years 3-6 proudly participated in the Koonawarra Careways Reconciliation Walk alongside local schools and community members.
In the lead-up to the event, our students worked with Koonawarra Careways to create a banner celebrating reconciliation, culture, and community connection. DPS led the walk carrying the banner, showing pride in their culture and supporting the message of unity and inclusion.
Swimming Carnival Superstars
We kicked off our Swimming Carnivals first in February just as the school year started. As always our students had a very successful year in the pool with 38 students representing DPS at the District Carnival and then 16 students going on to represent South Wollongong PSSA at the Regional Carnival!
Kindy's Principal Hunt
In February one of our Kindergarten classes KL went on a ‘Principal Hunt’!
They found Mr Friedrich in his office!
"Our son is really enjoying being at school at Dapto Public. His teachers have always been friendly and supportive, and he has made a really lovely group of friends. The school keeps us informed of any upcoming activities for the kids, and regularly checks in with us regarding our son's academic progress. We would happily recommend Dapto Public to our community” — a parent of Dapto Public School
